Bike Lane Submissions
private parking lane
bedford ave and ave d, New york, NY
Today this van was standing again on the bike lane: Empty car, windows down, and loud music coming out. It was just a huge boom box for the guys sitting around.
Ticketed
Prince Street between Bowery and Elizabeth, New york, NY
When I told the driver he was parked in a lane reserved for bikes, he gave a snotty answer and rolled up his window. A minute later, after I had pulled up in front of him to take a picture of the van in front, he started honking me out of the way. A policeman had been watching and issued summonses to all three illegal parkers on the block. Satisfaction! Many drivers move if you ask them nicely. Don't give up. This one got what he deserved.
I don't care about bicycles!
bedford ave and ave q, New york, NY
This is a great example of a brainless/careless driver. I waited some time to see if he was just preparing for a U-turn or something. But no, he was just standing and waiting.
Longer stop on the bike lane
bedfore ave and ave d, New york, NY
First I wanted to ask, why he/she is standing again on the bike lane. But when I looked through the window I decided not to ask/interrupt. 'Driver' and passenger where more or less both sitting on the driver's seat...
Does it take so long to park correctly?
bedford ave and ave u, New york, NY
When I took the picture the driver came out of the shop. I asked her why she used half of the parking lane and two thirds of the bike lane. But her only response was "Why did you take the picture, why did you take the picture?". Unfortunately I do not think that she will try to use the parking spot correctly next time. Just too much effort for saving a cyclist's life.
The second parking row on bedford ave
bedford ave and newkirk ave, New york, NY
There are many examples of bike lanes just being a second parking row. Here is one from last Friday.
Move Mr. Softy
Chambers and Center St., New york, NY
Please Report This to the First Precinct Commander
Beat Police ignore this obvious and dangerous violation!
Mr. Softy
City Hall Park, Bike Lane to Brooklyn Bridge, New york, NY
This Ice Cream truck has been parked in front of city hall for years. Requests to Police to remove it have been ignored numerous times.

Bedford ave and flatbush ave intersection

Why using the car lane or the parking lane if there is a bike lane one can use?
Waiting in bike lane on Bedford Ave (2)
bedford ave and ave d, New york, NY
He looks pretty relaxed in his car.
Picking up laundry
Vernon Blvd. and 44th Dr., New york, NY
This driver apparently felt that his laundry was more important than the safety of bicyclists as they are pinched between drivers navigating a bend in the road.
Poland Spring Delivery
Vernon Blvd. and 44th Dr., New york, NY
The new bike lane on Vernon Blvd. in Queens is beautiful, but enforcement is pathetic. A few months after it was created, it's constantly abused, and rarely cleaned. This driver didn't even care. He thought it was funny that I was going to post his truck on the site and asked for the name of it.
Even when it is clear
navy st., Brooklyn, NY
this bike lane is scary. Cars and trucks fly around this corner at high speed.
It was so exhilarating to get to ride into that crazy traffic around this dangerous corner because this guy wanted to park here. Thanks mister Lexus driver!
Sometimes I wonder
ashland pl. and myrtle ave., Brooklyn, NY
why this is even a bike lane. There is ALWAYS multiple cars and trucks parked here.
Took the pic too late
Dean st and hoyt st., Brooklyn, NY
This pic shows the least amount he was driving in the bike lane. Before I was able to get my camera out, he was driving fully in the bike lane.
UPS on Hudson
630 hudson st, New york, NY
Haven't been on this route for months, but it's sad to note that UPS apparently still parks in this bike lane at the end of every business day due to sloth and laziness. Here's my post from March:

Ice Cream Break
Morton st and Bleeker st, New york, NY
Police car was sitting in the bike lane, driver gone. Passenger was a female officer talking on her cel phone and eating ice cream. She rolled down her window and said "What?". When I said she was in the bike lane, she said "I'M in the bike lane? Don't you see the white and blue colors on the car?". I said I did, but I also saw her eating ice cream and talking on the phone while i was riding into the traffic to go around her. She replied "Too bad.", and rolled up the window.
Waiting for a passenger
bedford ave and ave o, New york, NY
It looks like an ambulette but the passenger who came a few seconds later looked very healthy and wasn't at all in the need of an ambulette. This is just a large cab.
Brooklyn College pick-up
bedford ave and campus rd, New york, NY
There is a pick-up and drop-off zone 100 feet away but it's probably bad for their health to walk out of Roosevelt Hall and make a right turn. Nice education for future drivers.
Bicycle Habitat accepting deliveries in the bike lane
Spring and Lafayette, New york, NY
According to Charlie, deliveries here are made as quickly as possible, especially for big orders. He explained to me that his employees are told to first move the bikes to the sidewalk and then in the shop to get the truck moving as quickly as possible, but clearly these employees aren't doing that.
Psycho driver
Prince Street and the Bowery, New york, NY
This nutjob threated to 'break my fucking face' if I took pictures of his truck.
Church Car
bedford and bergen, New york, NY
This must have been the pastor's or minister's car. It was right in front of the city vehicle. Parked.
City Vehicle parked outside a church
1366 bedford, Brooklyn, NY
This was no temporary stand in a bike lane. This one, along with about 5 others, was parked in the bike lane. And a city vehicle on top of that.
Unbelievable.
Dyke's Lumber
Union St and Smith St, Brooklyn, NY
This guy wasn't even making a delivery. He was thirsty. He left his truck and sauntered across the street to the corner store to grab a soda. There were places to park other than the bike lane but that was the shortest distance between the driver's side door and the store.
A little chat in the bike lane
bedford ave and ave u, New york, NY
After I talked with them he started his car to park into the parking spot in front of the white van. But a DHL truck was faster - standing on the bike lane next to the empty parking place...
Selfish Range Rover jerk - take 1
516 west 22 st, New york, NY
So there you were, motor running, door open, and standing in the bike lane talking on your cell phone, you self-important jerk. But as soon as you saw me whip out the camera, it was time to get in the Rover and take off. Unfortunately enough.... (continued below)
Selfish Range Rover jerk - take 2
556 west 22 st, New york, NY
...I then just proceeding down the street, thinking I was rid of the bike lane issue. But then arrived another Range Rover jerk, who decided to also park in the bike lane and make a call. I thought it was the same guy until after I posted these photos. Whoa, two Range Rover jerks on the same block parked in the bike lane just two minutes apart? What is the statistical probability of that??? And how tough is it to park at the curb, you Range Rover morons? There was barely a single car on the entire block, but somehow for two Range Rovers it was totally ok to park in the bike lane. Does the owner's manual or sticker price give these guys a license to ill?
nutcase
6th avenue and west 26th st, New york, NY
The driver of this bus totally flipped out when he saw me taking photos of his bus and then calling 311.
He mooned me, flipped me the bird and launched the usual curses and insults at me.
I will be reporting his unprofessional and illegal behavior to his employer.
Avoid Empire Enterprises IJJA Inc.
I don't know what I am doing
Bedford ave and snyder ave, New york, NY
I waited some while to see what he was doing. Nothing! I think standing there seems for him less illegal than standing in front of the fire hydrant. He would probably move his car if a fire truck needed the space but he did not do it when another bike passed and had to use the car lane.
The typical situation at an intersection with bike lane
Bedford av and flatbush av, New york, NY
This is the view you get, more or less every time, when you approach the intersection Bedford Av and Flatbush Av.
Not separated bike lanes are useless, especially at intersections, if it just provides a little bit more space to increase the car bulk.
Dee's Transmission
bedford ave and clarendon st, New york, NY
Dee's Transmission is constantly using the bike lane (and the side walk) to park cars.
Access-A-Ride: creating new handicapped every day
71 fifth avenue, New york, NY
Not elderly or handicapped? No worries! Coming soon to a bike lane near you to crush you and thrust you into oncoming traffic: it's Access-A-Ride. This was the third Access-A-Ride parking job in a bike lane I've seen in the past week, so it was finally time to snap a photo. These drivers are truly reckless, and their ostensible purpose (to help the infirm and elderly) seems a joke in light of their frequent parking in the most dangerous spots.
